Athletes Taking ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

LeBron, Carmelo, RG3 and others have helped raise millions.

Ice Bucket Challenge Has Raised Millions For ALS Association - Athletes are really taking to the Ice Bucket Challenge, with everyone from Derek Jeter to LeBron James to Robert Griffin III getting drenched with the ice water for all to see on Instagram. The popular fundraiser promotes awareness and supports research for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, which attacks nerve cells and leads to paralysis and eventually death in just two to five years of diagnosis. A New York Times report estimates that the Ice Bucket Challenge has already raised millions for the ALS Association. Many people have accepted the challenge and nominated friends to do the same under the condition that if they don't within 24 hours, then they have to donate $100 to the ALS Association. For celebs, the donation is $10,000. Click on f...
Michael Jordan - Accepting the challenge from David Beckham, Derek Jeter and Ray Allen, Michael Jordan rose to the occasion and had ice water dumped on him to spread awareness to ALS. We think it's great that the hoops legend and Charlotte Hornets owner nominated his former coach, Phil Jackson, and Dream Team teammates to take the challenge next. Larry Bird already accepted!(Photo : Charlotte Hornets via Twitter)
LeBron James - LeBron James manned up and took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge laid down to him by friend and NBA MVP Kevin Durant. James then extended to challenge to his two sons and President Obama. Would you expect anything else from a King?(Photo: Lebron James via Instagram)Kevin Durant - What happens when the reigning NBA MVP takes the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge? He yells like there's nothing but cold water running in his shower. Good job by J.R. Smith and Steve Nash in nominating KD! Better job by Kevin Durant in nomating LeBron James!(Photo: Kevin Durant via Instagram)
