"He Knows" - Gospel plus auto-tunes? Technically this song incorporated the use of a vocoder, but the significance is that it highlights Sheard's continued efforts to incorporate modern R&B trends with secular music. The song was released in 2010 and is certainly reflective of the musical climate at the time.(Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images for BET)

"Prayed Up" - Featuring an upbeat tempo, "Prayed Up" is much closer to the popular gospel sound than some of Sheard's other hits. Featured on her All In One album, it was produced by her son J. Drew. (Photo: Courtesy of Elektra Records)

A Clark Sister - Karen Clark Sheard started out as one-fifth of gospel group The Clark Sisters, which her mother, the legendary Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, assembled. (Photo: Noel Vasquez/Getty Images)

"Nothing Without You" - Take a track from Groove Theory or En Vogue and insert warm, inspiring Christian lyrics into it and you'll get an idea of how this song sounds. Faith Evans makes a guest appearance on the song, which in itself is fairly impressive. At the time the song came out, 1997, Evans was still in between the R&B/Hip Hop world as she was the ex-wife of slain rap legend the Notorious B.I.G. The collaboration is proof of both Sheard and Evans' dexterity.(Photo: Noel Vasquez/Getty Images)

A Signature Style - Karen's vocal style is truly unique and often imitated by gospel and R&B singers alike.  (Photo: Charley Gallay/Getty Images)

"A Secret Place" - Starting off with a violin and piano intro, "A Secret Place" features production reminiscent of a Disney ballad. Both somber and sweet, this is easily one of Sheard's most hypnotic songs.(Photo: Charley Gallay/Getty Images)

Karen Founds Karew - Karen Clark Sheard launched her very own record label, Karew Records, in 2009. The label is her home as well as the label home of The Clark Sisters, Jonathan Nelson and her talented daughter, Kierra.  (Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images)

Beautifully and Wonderfully Made - There's music running through Karen Clark Sheard's veins — she was vocally trained by her mother and she passed her musical talents along to her son, J. Drew Sheard II, who produced some tracks on her album All in One.  (Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images)

"Jesus Is A Love Song" - Also featured on her debut album, "Jesus Is A Love Song" also featured her sister (she came up singing with them as the group The Clark Sisters) and has the production similar to that of a slow jam. Given the title and content of the song it adds up perfectly--what better to praise than to deliver it as a love song.(Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images)
