In-State Rivalry: Cali Edition

West Coast beefs and feuds that divided the coast.

Game vs. 40 Glocc - 40 Glocc is striking back at archrival Game over their infamous videotaped brawl in July. Glocc is suing Game over the beatdown he received — he says Game's 15-man crew jumped him and pulled a gun on him. But the clip doesn't show that, which is why the suit also sought compensation for harm to Glocc's rep, claiming that the tape was edited to make him look like a coward.   (Photos from left: Stephen Shugerman/Getty Images, Adrian Sidney/PictureGroup)

Ice Cube vs. Mack 10 - Ice Cube paved the way for Mack 10's entrance into the hip hop game and the two enjoyed successes solo and as a group with W.C., making up The West Side Connection. In 2006, however, an alleged argument between Ice Cube's brother-in-law and members of Mack 10's team went left and the Connection has been divided ever since, with W.C. rolling as Cube's hype-man. Time has apparently cooled things down, although there's no sign of a reunion. (Photos from Left: Leon Bennett/Getty Images, Scott Gries/Getty Images for Vh1)

Too $hort vs. The Luniz - Too $hort and The Luniz had Oakland in a funk in the mid '90s, as the two crews that once ran together parted like the Red Sea. A series of diss records ensued and the war came to a head in 1996 after an altercation ensued between $hort's crew and The Luniz at KMEL's Summer Jam, stopping the concert completely. $hort was banned from the station for a while, but MTV's Sway, who is from Oakland and was a DJ at the station, put together a pow-wow and The Luniz and Too $hort publicly squashed their beef and have been cool ever since.(Photos from Left: Toby Canham/Getty Images, Noah Graham/Getty Images)

Compton Menace vs. YG - YG and Compton Menace both represent different facets of The Compton Bloods, but that doesn't mean they have a united front. At The 2012 DUB Car Show outside of the LA Convention Center, both camps became involved in a melee with shots ringing out.Compton Menace was signed to Game's Black Wall Street Records at the time, which made tensions even thicker. The two have remained quiet or out of each others path for a minute, hopefully a sign the beef has died down.(Photos from left: Compton Menace via instagram, Bennett Raglin/BET/Getty Images for BET)

Cypress Hill vs. Ice Cube - The streets of L.A. became divided in 1995 as Cypress Hill tagged off on Ice Cube and accused their fellow MC of jacking their hook from a listening session at the studio.  According to Cypress, they let Cube hear their then-soon-to-be released single "Throw Your Set" and somehow their chorus wound up as his hook on "Friday."Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed because the street gangs from both sides were about to get involved and things were about to get serious. Instead, Cube and Cypress Hill met up and talked things out. And that's how the West was won. (Photos from left: Robert Knight Archive/Redferns, Peter Kramer/Getty Images)
