Born in 1957 in Welch, West Virginia, Steve Harvey moves to Cleveland in the 1970s. After graduating high school, he attends both Kent State and West Virginia University. Ready For Primetime - Following Steve Harvey's big break, hosting It's Showtime at the Apollo (1993-2000), he made inroads into TV stardom. First up was his starring lead in the short-lived series Me and the Boys in 1994, which ran one season. He finally landed success with The Steve Harvey Show, which ran from 1996 to 2002. A King Among Kings - In 1997, Steve Harvey was one-fourth of the groundbreaking Kings of Comedy tour, which, grossing $19 million in 1998, became the highest-grossing comedy tour in history. In 1999, director Spike Lee filmed the tour for a major film release titled The Original Kings of Comedy (2000). Following the film's success Steve Harvey begins to break into the mainstream.
