Keep It in the Family With the Grammys - In 2008, Karen Clark Sheard earned a Grammy Award for the Clark Sisters' "Blessed and Highly Favored," which she wrote. The song spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Gospel charts and was a huge accomplishment for Karen as it solidified her as a songwriter to be reckoned with. Another Chance - In 2001, Karen suffered a complication during a routine surgery procedure where a blood clot developed in her lungs and went into a coma. The doctors had given her a two percent chance to live prognosis. Miraculously, she recovered and and went right back to singing.
