Sick of It - “I am tired with people throwing my name around,” says Mike Tyson responding to charges that he is caught up in a murder plot. A witness said the retired boxer tried to take out a hit on the men who allegedly killed Tyson’s bodyguard Darryl Baum in 1999. Now another witness in the federal case involving members of the Cash Money Brothers street gang has alleged that gang members wanted to kill Tyson.

Not the Face of Terror - The United States government has finally moved former South African President Nelson Mandela’s from a U.S. terrorism watch list. The international icon and Nobel Peace Prize winner’s treatment by the U.S. government urged lawmakers to introduce a bill to take him off the list. President Bush signed the bill Tuesday.

Who's Suing Jay-Z? - A Manhattan judge has ordered management at rapper Jay-Z’s nightclub to turn over the names of all employees from the past three years. An ex-waitress’ lawyer wanted the names, in connection with a lawsuit that alleges Jigga’s establishment didn’t pay minimum wage or overtime.

Vigilante Justice? - It seems someone has decided to bypass the criminal justice system? The “vigilante justice” case of a Maryland cop-killer suspect who was found strangled to death in his cell has expanded to include everybody working at the D.C.-area jail. Initially, authorities announced that seven corrections officers who had access to Ronnie White were under investigation for the 19-year-old inmate’s death.

Mos Def Accused - A Canadian “model” Alana Wyatt-Smith, 29, a former stripper is getting in on the action with her tell all book entitled Breaking the Code of Silence. In her book she gives an account of her tough childhood, a few encounters she’s had with a few celebrities and athletes as well as her 2005 marriage to rapper Mos Def who she accuses of physical abuse.

Sentenced to Life - A 69-year-old Asian-Indian businessman and former HBCU professor in Mississippi who hired a hitman to kill his son’s Black wife will spend the rest of his life in prison. Prosecutors had sought the death penalty for Chiman Rai, arguing that he was so irate about his son, Ricky, marrying an African American that he paid two contract killers $10,000 to waste her.

Tragedy - A South Carolina teenager died last weekend after he was struck and killed by a rollercoaster in Georgia’s Six Flags Amusement Park. Asia Leeshawn Ferguson, age 17, and a friend scaled two fences that surrounded the Batman ride as a short cut to get back into the park Saturday afternoon, police said. The Batman Ride travels up to 50 m.p.h. Ferguson was in Georgia on a church trip.

Obama on Hip Hop - “I am troubled sometimes by the misogyny and materialism of a lot of rap lyrics,” the Democratic nominee said in his interview with Rolling Stone magazine last week. “It would be nice if I could have my daughters listen to their music without me worrying that they were getting bad images of themselves. He also added, though, hip hop has also been a positive force in America.

Record Breaker - Tyson Gay became the unofficial world's fastest man on the weekend after clocking 9.68 seconds for the 100m at the US Olympic trials in Eugene, Oregon. He beat the previous all-time record of 9.69 seconds set by Obadele Thompson in 1996.
