Kanye West Blames His Ego for His Misfortune and Other News This Week

This week's music news, all in one place.

A Week of Waiting - Thank goodness for yet another week filled with music news. Don’t worry, we’ll recap for you. 2016 has already revealed itself to be a great year for new releases by big artists and we got news of another finished album — no, it’s not Frank Ocean’s. No new developments in the Drake vs. Joe Budden story, but Joe goes for a win this week and it doesn’t involve taking a stab at Drake. There wasn’t a plethora of shady moments, but thanks to a pop star, the #TaylorSwiftIsOver party gets extended a little bit. Don’t mind the social media confusion of a Snapchatter or the reappearance of two hip-hop villains. – Jon Reyes(Photo: BET)

50% More News From the Past 7 Days - Unless you’ve been sheltering yourself with old CDs of The College Dropout, you would know that The Life of Pablo was released after Kanye so eloquently made this announcement. Anyway, since then it’s been a whirlwind. Don’t worry, Kanye didn’t monopolize this week’s weekly update. Even though we have this playing on loop. What do we got? A lot. A sad death, an injury, protests gone wrong and the white music awards, among many other things. – Jon Reyes (Photo: BET)

The 'Lamar Got Snubbed Again' Show - The GRAMMYs happened this past Monday. It was a cyclone of audio problems, Kendrick winning and performing, artists getting sick, artists canceling, rappers dipping out after their presenting duties were fulfilled and a pop star going after our innocent Kanye West. Right. The GRAMMY night passed and some were pretty angry about Natalie Cole not getting her proper performance tribute. Since there was no real reason, the GRAMMY producers came to us with this crock. Whatever, we’re looking forward to the s**t show next year. (Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage)

A Week Gone West - What a week for hip hop’s little cherub. Some of us aren’t really happy with him at the moment, but we digress. In one of his Twitter rants this past week, West admitted to being $53 million in debt. One of his dedicated fans created a GoFundMe page and he’s even gotten some donations (and some of them are hilarious). Don’t miss out.Oh, yeah, and in a much calmer Twitter rant this week, he made a crazy admission: "My number one enemy has been my ego…” We’ll take that with a grain of salt. (Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images for Yeezy Season 3)

A Knight Not on the List - If Paul McCartney can’t get into a party Tyga is throwing, we all might as well pack it up for any parties we thought we were going to this weekend. (Photo: Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for Yeezy Season 3)
