Human Trafficking Hits Home - Nigeria might seem a world away from the United States in terms of distance, yet the U.S. State Department reports that 600,000 to 800,000 people are trafficked (i.e. recruited, kidnapped or bought and forced into labor or sex work or acts) across international borders every year. Between 14,500 and 17,500 are trafficked into the US annually, and subsequently forced into farm work, domestic work, prostitution and more. Overall, an estimated 20 to 30 million people worldwide are enslaved.  (Photo: Streeter Lecka/Getty Images)
