Plus, Kevin Durant sprains ankle, exits game.

Celtics Trade Rajon Rondo to Mavericks - Rajon Rondo has been subject to trade rumors for much of his eight-year career with the Boston Celtics. On Thursday night, though, rumors actually turned to fruition, as the Celtics traded their star point guard and forward Dwight Powell to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for veteran point guard Jameer Nelson, forwards Brandan Wright and Jae Crowder and future draft picks, as confirmed by ESPN. "My time in Boston has meant so much," Rondo tweeted on Thursday night. "I've grown up with this city both as a basketball player and person. The love I have for the most loyal and supportive fans in the league is unmatched. I look forward to building something special in Dallas." And the Mavericks are happy to have him. At 19-8 and now with Rondo, the Mavs figure to only become a scarier threat to win the Western Conference...

Thought of Not Being With Bears Crosses Jay Cutler's Mind - Jay Cutler didn’t expect the seven-year, $126.7 million deal he signed with the Chicago Bears this past off-season to work out like this. With the Bears (5-9) guaranteed a losing season, Cutler underwhelmed with an NFL-high 24 turnovers and was benched for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. The struggling quarterback admits that the thought of not being in Chicago “definitely crossed my mind.” "You sign a seven-year deal, and you think you're going to be here for a while," Cutler told ESPN on Thursday. "I'm still hopeful that's going to ring true, that we'll have another shot at this." (Photo: Brian Kersey/Getty Images)

Carmelo Anthony – Live With No Regrets - Living with no regrets is the New Year's resolution for Carmelo Anthony. After cashing in on a five-year, $124 million extension with the New York Knicks this past off season, Melo probably never thought that the team would be worse off than they were last year, but here they are on the path to falling under the 37-45 record they finished in 2013-14. Melo could have signed with the winning Chicago Bulls, but chose the Knicks. Now's not the time to regret that decision.  (Photo: Alex Goodlett/Getty Images)

Carmelo Anthony Advised to Rest Knee Few Weeks - Carmelo Anthony missed Thursday night’s New York Knicks game against the Chicago Bulls due to ongoing left knee soreness. "I have multiple people say kind of just shut it down," Anthony told ESPN. "Or just take time off. But at the end of the day, it's hard for me to just do that right now in the midst of what's happening with the team and this season. So just trying to be smart about that." There’s no telling as of now if Melo will suit up Saturday for a matinee game against the Phoenix Suns at Madison Square Garden. (Photo: Alex Goodlett/Getty Images)

Jaguars' Sen'Derrick Marks Earns $600,000 for Late Sack - When Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks dropped Tennessee Titans quarterback Charlie Whitehurst for a sack on Thursday Night Football, he got up and did the money sign a la Johnny Manziel. But Marks was imitating Johnny Football. He was literally cashing in. Marks' late sack of Whitehurst gave him 8.5 sacks this season, thus activating a $600,000 bonus in his contract, according to ESPN. The Jaguars won too, 21-13.(Photo: Sam Greenwood/Getty Images)

Lance Stephenson – Prove You're an NBA Star - Michael Jordan and his Charlotte Hornets took a gamble on Lance Stephenson, signing him to a three-year, $27 million deal this past off season. So far, the deal hasn't worked out well for either side, with Hornets coach Steve Clifford even telling the media back in November that the shooting guard is "not a star" in the NBA yet. Now's the time to use comments like that as fuel, Lance. Step on the gas and get yourself going in the New Year. Finish strong. (Photo: Streeter Lecka/Getty Images)

Hornets' Trade Talks Fizzle for Lance Stephenson - Sources are telling ESPN that the Charlotte Hornets have decided to keep Lance Stephenson “for now” instead of aggressively looking to move him in a trade. Stephenson signed a three-year, $27 million deal with the Hornets this past off-season and has been underwhelming since with an average of 10.2 points, which is down from the 13.8 he was posting with the Indiana Pacers last season. The fourth-year shooting guard also reinjured his groin Wednesday night and is expected to miss Charlotte’s next two games. (Photo: Streeter Lecka/Getty Images)

Phil Jackson Defends Tyson Chandler Trade, Begs for Patience - Hearing criticism of the off-season trade that sent Tyson Chandler to the Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks president Phil Jackson took to his Twitter account to say that “I'm OK with the Dallas deal. Tyson fits there and our three players, Jose [Calderon], Sam [Dalembert] and Shane [Larkin], are on the court," Jackson tweeted, as reported by NJ.com. “Our season got off to a rocky start — injuries — Tyson could not have changed the outcome. Cutler has thrown a staggering 10 interceptions in the Bears' last six games. Although it took 19 seasons to Jordan’s 15 to accomplish the feat, Bryant relished in the moment. "I'm just honored to be here, man, to still be playing," Bryant told ESPN. "I appreciate being able to play this long. Careers normally don't last this long."(Photos from left: Hannah Foslien/Getty Images, Elsa/Getty Images)

Bengals Rough Up Johnny Manziel in First Start - The Cincinnati Bengals had a message for Johnny Manziel on Sunday — welcome to the hard knocks of the NFL. The Bengals sacked the rookie quarterback three times and intercepted him twice during their emphatic 30-0 shutout of the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Making matters worse, Bengals players imitated Manziel’s signature “money-rubbing” gesture when tackling him. "I felt like it was a fail on my part for the position and it's tough. It's going to take time. It's a process for sure," Manziel told Cleveland.com after the game. With the loss, the Browns fell to 7-7 and are barely alive for an AFC wild-card berth with two more weeks left. (Photo: Joe Robbins/Getty Images)

Kings Fire Coach Mike Malone - The Sacramento Kings fired coach Mike Malone on Sunday night, ESPN reported. Malone led the Kings to a 9-5 start this season, but the team lost eight of their past 10 games in the absence of star center DeMarcus Cousins’ battle with viral meningitis. The Kings (11-13) figured to get better with the return of Cousins early in the New Year, but a franchise source told ESPN that they “expected” more from Malone. Assistant coach and former NBA forward Tyrone Corbin will serve as the team’s interim head coach.(Photo: Scott Halleran/Getty Images)

Tim Bradley Fight Called a Draw - Getting the decisions right. It’s a problem that continues to plague the sport of boxing, with Saturday night not being an exception. Judges shockingly called Timothy Bradley Jr.’s welterweight bout with Diego Chaves a draw, despite Bradley clearly winning the fight. Bradley landed nearly 40 percent of his punches thrown to Chaves’s 27 percent, yet the match was declared a draw to the crowd’s surprise at Las Vegas’ Cosmopolitan. "I thought I won at least eight rounds," Bradley told reporters, including ESPN. "I'm not going to say it was horrible, but I'm not a judge." (Photo: David Becker/Getty Images)

Amir Khan Outpoints Devon Alexander - Amir Khan easily outpointed Devon Alexander, 119-109, 118-110, 120-108, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night. The victory came one year after Khan pulled himself out of a scheduled bout with Alexander to preserve himself for a shot at Floyd Mayweather Jr. that never panned out. Now, though, if Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao can’t secure their mega bout, Khan figures to be the front-runner in landing a match with Mayweather. (Photo: Donald Miralle/Getty Images)
