In 2008, Chris Brown expanded his writing skills and co-write Rihanna's No. 1 hit "Disturbia." The song went seven times platinum. The year before, he also co-wrote J. Holiday’s hit single “Bed."

In February 2023, after expressing disappointment that he lost the Best R&B Album Grammy to pianist and producer Robert Glasper, the singer apologized on social media. Brown posted a screenshot of his Instagram direct message to Glasper, which read, “Congratulations my brother… I would like to apologize if you took offense to my reaction at the Grammys. You were not the intended target and I know I came off really rude and mean.” He also added, “From one Black man to another, congratulations. Hope you are able to feed your family for life. God bless my G.”
