The Huxtables: TV's Most Iconic Black Family - Believe it or not, this week marks the 32nd anniversary of The Cosby Show premiere, and the series changed television forever. The extremely popular multi-Emmy Award-winning sitcom was the No. 1 show in the country for five of its eight seasons. The Cosby Show has been plagued with controversy since several women came forward claiming they were drugged and sexually assaulted by Bill Cosby. Phylicia Rashad - Phylicia Rashad portrayed Clair Hanks Huxtable, the sexy, witty but stern lawyer, wife and mom on the groundbreaking sitcom. Rashad reteamed twice with her TV husband in the '90s post-Cosby Show, first on the series Cosby and later as a voice actor on the animated kids show Little Bill. In the 2000s, she starred in the TV movies A Raisin in The Sun and Steel Magnolias. Rashad also appeared in the feature films Frankie & Alice and For Colored Girls. Sabrina Le Beauf - Sondra, the oldest child of the Huxtable clan, played by Sabrina Le Beauf, famously did not appear in the pilot episode. But Le Beauf expanded her résumé after the iconic series ended. Le Beauf starred in Star Trek: The Next Generation in the '90s and reunited with her TV dad on Cosby and as a voice actor on Bill Cosby's animated series Fatherhood in the 2000s. Lisa Bonet - After starring as the quirky and stylish Denise Huxtable on The Cosby Show and A Different World for a combined seven seasons, Lisa Bonet went on to star in the films Enemy of the State, High Fidelity and Biker Boyz plus the TV series Life on Mars. The ex-wife of Lenny Kravitz and mom of Zoe Kravitz got married a second time in 2007 to actor Jason Momoa. Malcolm-Jamal Warner - Everyone loved Malcolm-Jamal Warner as Theodore Huxtable, the dyslexic yet hip and cool only son of America's first TV family. Warner has helped TV audiences keep the love alive thanks to a string of starring roles in the sitcoms Malcolm & Eddie, Sherri, BET's Reed Between the Lines and, most recently, Community. Tempestt Bledsoe - Tempsett Bledsoe has completely reinvented herself as an actress since portraying the sensible yet daring daughter Vanessa Huxtable. The real-life New York University graduate became a fixture in television, hosting the hit reality show Clean House and scoring roles on scripted series like The Practice, South of Nowhere and Guys With Kids. Keshia Knight Pulliam - After charming TV audiences as the adorable and precocious Rudy Huxtable, actress Keisha Knight Pulliam put her acting career on hold for higher education. After earning a sociology degree from Spelman College, she returned to showbiz to star in movies like Beauty Shop and Madea Goes to Jail and the TV series House of Payne. Erika Alexander - Erika Alexander portayed Clair's streetwise cousin Pam for three seasons on The Cosby Show. Dondre Whitfield - One of the more popular suitors of the Huxtable girls was Vanessa's puppy love boyfriend Robert Foreman, portrayed by Dondre Whitfield. After the iconic series ended, the actor stayed  active in TV on All My Children, Between Brothers, Girlfriends, Ghost Whisperer and Cold Case. Whitfield currently stars on the ABC drama Mistresses. Michelle Thomas - Michelle Thomas portrayed Justine Phillips, the pretty yet spunky girlfriend of Theo. Art imitated life when Thomas and Malcolm-Jamal Warner went on to become a couple in real life. The actress later became best known as Myra Monkhouse on Family Matters for six seasons and she also appeared in an NAACP Image Award-nominated role on The Young and the Restless. Joseph C. Phillips - As the long-suffering but understanding husband of Denise Huxtable, Lt. Martin Kendall, Joseph C. Phillips only enjoyed a three season stint on the hit sitcom. But afterwards, he put in guest appearances on TV shows like The Parkers, The King of Queens and V.I.P. Raven-Symoné - The family series got a new injection of cuteness when Raven-Symoné was selected to play Denise's perky stepdaughter Olivia. She followed The Cosby Show's end with a stint on Hanging With Mr. Cooper, but her role as Raven Baxter on That's So Raven for four seasons rebranded her as a TV mogul. The highly successful series helped to up Symoné's worth up to $45 million dollars in 2009. The actress also starred in the films Dr. Doolittle 2, Fat Albert and College Road Trip. Carl Anthony Payne - Carl Anthony Payne only portrayed Theo's mischievous BFF Walter 'Cockroach' Bradley for two seasons. But the actor quickly moved on to another successful TV bromance for five seasons when he starred as Cole Brown opposite Martin Lawrence on the hit sitcom Martin. Allen Payne - Allen Payne starred as Lance Rodman, the fickle yet suave boyfriend of Charmaine Brown, on The Cosby Show. Clarice Taylor - Legendary actress Clarice Taylor performed for over five decades on stage, radio and in television and film. The co-founder of Harlem's American Negro Theater portrayed Cliff's mother, Anna Huxtable, on the trailblazing series. Post-Cosby she starred in the films Sommersby and Smoke and the TV series Due South. Taylor retired from acting in 2009. Sadly, she died of heart failure in 2011.
