Morgan State Professor Convicted of Fraud - Manoj Kumar Jha, the director for the Center for Advanced Transportation and Infrastructure Engineering Research at Morgan State University, was convicted Tuesday of fraud. According to the ruling, Jha falsely obtained $200,000 in grant funds from the National Science Foundation Small Business Technology Transfer program and attempted to obtain another $500,000 through the same program. FAMU Student Sentenced to One Year in Hazing Death - Jessie Baskin, a former FAMU Marching 100 band member, was sentenced to 51 weeks in the county jail, five years of probation and 300 hours of community service for his role in the 2011 hazing death of Robert Champion.
