Unfair Fights

There's nothing like a good old-fashioned lyrical beatdown.

Unfair Fights - Sometimes you can't make this stuff up. Last Friday, late '90s milk-carton candidate Can-I-Bus released the diss track "J Clone," aimed at J. Cole. Why would Bus diss Cole, who's repeatedly given his elder props in interviews? He says Cole should be doing more than just shouting him out — he should hire him to kick a verse. And a diss track would make that happen how exactly? We don't get it either. Regardless, Can-I-Bus apologized Sunday, calling his actions "tacky, unsophisticated and...selfish." Smart move, Bus. But we're almost a little sad that Cole didn't get to respond. He's on top of his game — unlike Bus — and sometimes there's nothing like a good old-fashioned lyrical ass-whooping. But don't fret, hip hop; we can always look back fondly at these other rap-related unfair fights.(Photos: Cindy Ord/Getty Images; Hayley Madden/ Redferns/Ge...

Rick Ross vs. Kreayshawn - Honestly, we think Ross took a bit of an L by even bothering to respond to Youtube sensation Kreayshawn's potshots earlier this year. But needless to say, this was a mismatch. Rawse one of the best rappers in the game, while Kreayshawn may already be a footnote and/or punchline. Not to mention the fact that the Bawse could all-too-literally eat little Kreay-Kreay for lunch (as an appetizer).(Photos: WCEPIX/EP/PictureGroup; Frank Micelotta/PictureGroup)

Kool Moe Dee vs. Busy Bee Starski - Kool Moe Dee's pure and simple destruction of Busy Bee onstage at Harlem World in 1981 was a pivotal moment in the development of battle rap. Busy was already a respected pioneer, but Kool Moe Dee was already miles ahead, introducing his revolutionary fast-rapping style and brutally dissing Bee for biting his name and his patented Zodiac shout-outs. All Busy could do was bitterly shout "shut up" on the mic. (Photos: Bryan Bedder/Getty Images)

Jay-Z vs. Prodigy - “I don't care if you Mobb Deep, I hold triggers to crews/You little ****, I've got money stacks bigger than you/When I was pushin weight, back in eighty-eight/you was a ballerina I got your pictures I seen ya/Then you dropped "Shook Ones," switch your demeanor/Well we don't believe you, you need more people!” Need we say more? Eminem vs. Benzino - The battle between Eminem and Benzino was unfair for so many reasons. But ultimately the fact that Eminem could rap and Benzino simply could not would become the undoing of Ray Ray. Not only did Eminem crush his opponent, he nearly took the magazine with it. Sheesh.
