Kanye West Might Join Instagram, Michelle Obama Releases New Song and Other Music News This Week

Seven days of business treachery and triumph.

A Week of Waiting - Thank goodness for yet another week filled with music news. Don’t worry, we’ll recap for you. 2016 has already revealed itself to be a great year for new releases by big artists and we got news of another finished album — no, it’s not Frank Ocean’s. No new developments in the Drake vs. Joe Budden story, but Joe goes for a win this week and it doesn’t involve taking a stab at Drake. There wasn’t a plethora of shady moments, but thanks to a pop star, the #TaylorSwiftIsOver party gets extended a little bit. Don’t mind the social media confusion of a Snapchatter or the reappearance of two hip-hop villains. – Jon Reyes(Photo: BET)

Thank God for FLOTUS - This is the week that rappers were either acting out or showing out. Though if you could believe it the first lady blessed the world with her own record. She did get help from other artists but it doesn’t matter: the first lady cut a record. That’s "yuuuuge!" —Jon Reyes (Photo: BET)

The Notorious FLOTUS - First lady Michelle Obama enlisted the help of Janelle Monaé, Kelly Clarkson, Kelly Rowland and many more for a Diane Warren penned “This Is for My Girls.” Ugh, we’re totally going to miss Mrs. Obama when she leaves 1600. (Photo: Neilson Barnard/Getty Images for SXSW)

Can You Imagine This Mess on IG? - Kanye West stays threatening the world. Like him threatening us with the thought of joining Instagram. The IG world has already inflicted Azealia on us. Adding Kanye to the mix is like adding arsenic to a cup of cyanide. (Photo by Gardiner Anderson/Bauer-Griffin/GC Images)

The Bane of Social Media - Yup, that would be Ms. Banks. Even though she left Twitter and we all rejoiced, she’s still managing to come for Rihanna (at least she’s trying to) on her IG. 212 is the new area code for petty. (Photo: WENN.com)

He’s a Business, Man - HOV is out here making low-key moves. He basically removed his 2001 opus, The Blueprint, from the platforms of Tidal’s competitors, even iTunes. Get ready for that HOV catalog to be exclusively available on Tidal. (Photo: Theo Wargo/Getty Images for Live Nation)

When Rappers Do Good - Big Sean hasn't necessarily reached the upper upper echelon of fame, but listen, any rapper that makes a recording studio to be used by young kids to record is a freaking legend. (Photo: Noam Galai/Getty Images for AWXII)

Hello, Goodbye, LL - LL Cool J trolled us this week. It’s almost like one of his kids educated him on what trolling was so he decided to give it a whirl. Basically, he retired, only to "unretire" hours later. Now he’s super excited about working with Eminem. These rappers are seriously ruining social media for all of us. (Photo: Christopher Polk/Getty Images for Spike TV)

Compton’s Own on Top - This is what you call swag: when your unreleased and unmastered tracks are packaged together and surprise-released to the world and still manage to top the charts. (Photo: Bennett Raglin/Getty Images for Power 105.1's Powerhouse 2015)

Gamers Unite - In case anyone was wondering what Meek Mill was doing during his house arrest, we now know. He’s playing a lot of video games with Chief Keef. Can you imaging the copious amounts of weed being consumed at that joint? (Photos from left: Jason Merritt/Getty Images for Tidal/Roc Nation, Guillermo Proano/WENN.com)

MJ Is Still Making Moves - What MJ's got others still want. There’s tons of money in publishing and Sony/ATV wants in on that piece of the pie. (Photo: Phil Walter/Getty Images)
