Already an Emmy-winning actress when she starred in the film, she went on to co-star in a string of hits, including The Best Man and Love & Basketball, before her big-screen work slowed down in the early 2000s. She had a comeback in 2009 with the show Diary of a Single Mom, which lasted three seasons, and the 2013 hit sequel The Best Man Holiday.
