Superstars Who Struggle in the Post-Season

Clayton Kershaw has rough outings in playoffs.

Clayton Kershaw Has Rough Outings in Playoffs - Clayton Kershaw was quite simply the best pitcher in Major League Baseball this season. An MLB-best 21-3 record with an ultra-stingy 1.77 ERA is proof of that. However, to say the lefty struggled in the playoffs would be an understatement. Kershaw gave up 12 hits and 11 runs in two games against the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Division Series — both losses. His three-run homer to Matt Adams on Tuesday night proved to be the difference in a 3-2 Cardinals' win and Dodgers' elimination. Kershaw is now 1-5 in eight playoff starts. Ouch. But Kershaw is far from the only sports superstar who struggles in the post-season. Peyton Manning Doesn't Like Broncos Fight  - Peyton Manning isn't a fan of fights breaking out during training camp or at all for that matter. "I don't like [fights], to tell you the truth," the Denver Broncos quarterback told ESPN on Tuesday. "You don't do it in a game. If you do it in a game, it usually costs you something important, it costs you a drive, costs you field position. I'm into treating practice like a game. I'm not a fan of it." Manning made the statement after two separate fights broke out during Broncos practice Tuesday.(Photo: Doug Pensinger/Getty Images)
Carmelo Anthony Says He's the Most Underrated Star Player - Carmelo Anthony won the scoring title for the 2012-13 season and finished second in scoring to Kevin Durant last year, but still thinks he’s the most underrated superstar in the NBA. "I think I'm the most underrated superstar that's out there (laughs) but that doesn't matter to me," Anthony told ESPN on Wednesday. "So as far as caring about if I'm underrated as a superstar, and getting the respect I deserve, I don't worry about that,” he added later. “In due time if everything goes well, I will get it."  (Photo: Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)No Mediocre - Like Jay Cutler, Andy Dalton inked a huge offseason extension — his with the Cincinnati Bengals — worth $115 million over six years. And like Cutler, Dalton has underwhelmed. Yes, his Bengals have a 5-3-1 record, very much still alive in the AFC playoff picture, but Dalton, with only twelve touchdown passes, hasn’t done anything that should make Cincy’s fan base believe this year could be special. Even if they make the postseason, Dalton will be fighting history as he sports an 0-3 playoff record.  (Photo: Andy Lyons/Getty Images)
