Rant No More - Kanye West went all the way vocal this year as he discovered more and more that his status as a lauded hip hop star holds no weight in the fashion world. But, the "rants" put a strain on his music fans; and the fashion world was already not listening, so, 'Ye offered one final rant for the year, this time including a resolution to stop "talking s--t" in 2014. The Crossover Twerk - It all started harmlessly on stage at a Juicy J show, Miley Cyrus was caught twerking and so began her 24/7 indecent exposure campaign. Ultimately, it was her startling performance at the MTV's VMAs that nearly broke the Internet and made her one of the most talked about artists of 2013. Turn Down - 2 Chainz helped the "turn up" turn way up with his 2012 song aptly titled, "Turn Up" (even Beyoncé got "Turnt"), but now that we've given that term a good year of burn, it's time to turn all the way down.(Photo: Def Jam)

The State of New York Rap Debate - The debate about New York's rap scene, or lack thereof, gained heat this year due to Kendrick Lamar's lyrical proclamation that he was the king of New York on "Control." Then Trinidad James' observations about local radio only fanned the flames, but all the talk needs to stop and the music needs to speak for itself in 2014.(Photos from left: John Ricard / BET, Prince Williams/FilmMagic)
