A Winning Strategy - Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran has been heavily criticized by some of his fellow Republicans for seeking support from Black voters and other Democrats to win a bruising primary runoff election. Others say it was a smart move and without it he likely would have lost to his Tea Party opponent. "What the Cochran campaign did was open up the tent," said Jackie Bland, an African-American who campaigned for Cochran, told the Wall Street Journal. Winning! - The race was tight and it took a few days for his opponent, state Sen. Adriano Espaillat, to concede, but Rep. Charles Rangel won his bid for a last term in Congress. In a statement, Rangel thanked voters for "giving this veteran his one last fight." The long-term lawmaker wanted to step down at the end of President Obama's term in office. "I've got a lot of fight in me," he added, "and will not let them down." (Photo: AP Photo/Julie Jacobson)

No Surrender - Chris McDaniel is not conceding and has pledged to "root out this corruption" of Democrats voting in the Republican Senate runoff. "We have a statute, a law in our state that says you cannot participate in a primary unless you intend to support that primary winner in the general. [Democrats who voted for McDaniels] have no intention to do that, they'll be voting for [Democratic nominee] Travis Childers in November. We know that, they know that, and so that makes their actions illegal," he told conservative radio host Mark Levin. "We're going to be fighting this." (Photo: AP Photo/George Clark)

Uncle Toms for Thad - According to conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, the African-Americans who helped Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Mississippi) defeat challenger Chris McDaniel are traitors to their own race. "Insider Republicans bought eight or nine percentage points from the Black Uncle Tom voters in Mississippi," he said during his June 25 broadcast. "Well, you know what they call Clarence Thomas? Condolezza Rice? They call them Uncle Toms. Republicans, these guys that voted for them ... Uncle Toms for Thad." (Photo: George Gojkovich/Getty Images)
