Kansas City Royals Make First World Series in 29 Years - They’re partying in Kansas City. The Kansas City Royals are World Series-bound for the first time since 1985 after Wednesday’s 2-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles to complete their four-game sweep in the American League Championship Series. All it took Wednesday was Eric Hosmer grounding into a fielder’s choice to first base to score two runs in the first inning for the Royals to hold on to the victory.
