You Got the Juice

Hip hop stars inspired by the 1992 film Juice.

Tupac Shakur in Juice - Always a rapper with a largely positive message, 'Pac surprised critics and fans when he so convincingly played explosive, gun-crazed thug Bishop in 1992's Juice. Some even blame the influence of the character on his increasing tendency toward trouble — leading to his untimely death in 1996 — thereafter.(Photo: Courtesy Paramount/ Everett Collection)

You Got the Juice - With today marking the 20th anniversary of the classic urban film Juice, which spawned the acting careers of stars such as Omar Epps, Khalil Kain and most notably Tupac Shakur, BET.com caught up with today's hip hop stars to discuss the film's impact as we take a stroll down memory lane.  (Photo: Paramount/courtesy Everett Collection)

No Malice on changing the direction of his music: - “I think we did it too well and I think some people walked away with the wrong message from that, especially seeing our friends, manager and people that we considered family get locked up. It was definitely an eye opener, and I really don't want to glorify that [lifestyle] like that any longer."(Photo: John Ricard/BET)

Malice of the Clipse - "Bishop (Tupac's character) personifies what can happen when the misuse of power falls into the wrong hands. If not careful power can give anyone a false sense of reverence, whether it's by weapons, money or social status. It brings to mind the age old question: Is it better to be feared or respected? I choose the latter. Humble yourself! "(Photo: John Ricard / BET)

DJ Diamond Kuts - "Juice meant a lot to the hip hop community, especially from a deejay's perspective. The battles, the record store shops, and to top it all off Tupac was in rare form! "(Photo: John Ricard / BET)

French Montana - "I went to see the movie in the Bronx with a gang of my friends. We were all really excited to see a movie that represented our world, and what we went through on a daily basis. Juice was the first time I saw 2Pac, and his talent shined through the screen. I was a 2Pac fan instantly." (Photo: John Ricard / BET)

T-Pain, RevolveR - This "rappa-ternt-sanga" has been leaking music from his fourth studio album for two years. At one point, he said he wouldn't drop the LP until he amassed a million Twitter followers. Considering he's at around 600,000 now, he made a smart move in setting a new release date, December 6, 2011, in stone. UPDATE: December 6 was in stone, yet RevolveR wasn’t that well received by critics, with some citing a lack of artistic growth. The album wasn’t even certified Gold.(Photo:  Gregg DeGuire/PictureGroup)

Killer Mike a.k.a Mike Bigga - "When I first saw Juice I was amazed that someone actually expressed through film what my everyday life felt like as a '90s hip hop kid. Every character was an emotion I had felt or real friend I had. It was, and is, amazing."(Photo: Scott Gries/Getty Images)

Bei Maejor - "I just thought it was a brilliant film. When the dude said to Q, "You got the juice now man," that to me was the most classic line ever."(Photo: Jive Records)

Freddie Gibbs - "It's just displayed something that nothing else was displaying at the time. At the time you had Boyz n the Hood and Juice, movies that showed what was going on with the inner city youth. Boyz n the Hood showed L.A. and Juice showed New York. It was a big stepping stone for Tupac as well acting wise... it put a lot of fear in people's hearts. After Juice you looked at Tupac and saw Bishop."

Yung Berg - "Juice was incredible because I got to see one of my favorite rappers acting, and doing a great job. Pac was always passionate but you could tell that he took the role seriously, and actually made me want to act. Juice is a hip hop classic." (Photo: Scott Gries/Getty Images)
