House Party (1990) - In 1990, this classic of Black cinema became one of the first hip hop buddy comedies and a seminal film for Generation X. The coming-of-age film, which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival, starred Kid 'N Play rappers Christopher "Kid" Reid and Chris "Play" Martin as two high school friends trying to pull off the ultimate house party. Christopher "Kid" Reid as Christopher Robinson, Jr. and Christopher "Play" Martin as Peter Martin - Kid 'N Play were the hottest duo in rap in the late 80s and early 90s. After showing up in numerous movies in the House Party franchise, Reid made guest appearances on sitcoms like Barbershop and Sister, Sister and was host of Showtime at the Apollo. Reid also made several appearances on Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher and even composed the theme music for Maher's Real Time. Meanwhile, his partner-in-crime Martin took a hiatus from acting to focus on his faith (he became a born-again Christian) and family (he married Boomerang actress Shari Headley). Now a Christian rapper, he has been making his way back into acting with the films Welcome to Durham, USA and The Return. The Martin star went on to headline the Bad Boys franchise, Big Momma's House, Blue Streak, Life and several other box office hits. Full Force (Paul "Anthony" George, Lucien "Bowlegged Lou" George, Jr., Brian "B-Fine" George) - After taking a stab at acting in House Party and House Party 2, the R&B group put their focus back on making music and over the years have worked as producers with artists like ‘N Sync, The Black Eyed Peas, the Backstreet Boys, Rihanna and more. Robin Harris as Christopher Robinson, Sr. - The native of Chicago's South Side was a comedian on the rise before landing the role of "Pop" in House Party, his most memorable role to date. But Harris's career was cut tragically short on March 18, 1990, just weeks after House Party's release, when he was found dead in his room at the Four Seasons Hotel.
