Ugly Plays: Most Racist Moments in Sports

Donald Sterling is one of many to inject racism in sports.

LA Judge Won't Delay Sterling Trial - Judge Michael Levanas said Monday in court that he won’t delay the scheduled Donald Sterling-Shelly Sterling July 7 court hearing to accommodate Donald’s doctor. Sterling’s doctor, who vouched for the banned owner’s mental health last week, could not be present during next Monday’s trial due to previous obligations and traveling, but Levanas didn’t feel like his possible presence was enough to reschedule the hearing. The hearing will decide if the Sterling Family Trust guidelines were properly followed in the $2 billion sale of the Los Angeles Clippers to ex-Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.(Photo: AP Photo/Mark J. Fans Throw Banana at Brazilian Soccer Player Dani Alves - How did Barcelona defender Dani Alves — a Brazilian — respond this past Sunday when a fan in the stands threw a banana at him in what’s become a racist taunt practiced in soccer for decades? He picked it up, peeled it and took the opportunity to get an instant energy boost. How’s that for taking a bite out of racism?  (Photo: David Ramos/Getty Images)

Jimmy The Greek Uses Slave Times to Explain Black Athletes - When it comes to racist moments in sports, perhaps Jimmy “The Greek” Snyder’s comments were most heinous. A former CBS commentator, Snyder made viewers cringe back in 1988 when he said that “the only thing left for the whites is a couple of coaching jobs” because Blacks are dominating as athletes. Wait…it got worse. He brought up slave times in explaining why he thinks Black athletes are superior to white athletes. "The slave owner would breed his big black (man) to his big woman so that he could have a big black kid...That's where it all started.” Disgusting. CBS fired him. Snyder died years later of a heart attack in 1996. (Photo: Focus on Sport/Getty Images)
