Look: White Man Finally Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Joe McKnight But Only Charged With This
Better late than never, but not quite with the results desired.
Ronald Gasser, the white man who shot and killed ex-NFL running back Joe McKnight in an alleged road-rage incident in New Orleans on Thursday, was finally arrested Monday night and is being held without bond, TMZ Sports is reporting.
However, the 54-year-old Gasser was arrested on manslaughter charges and not first- nor second-degree murder, despite having admitted to fatally shooting McKnight, 28, three times during their road-rage altercation.
Still, the arrest comes after the same Jefferson Parish Sherrif's Department questioned Gasser hours after the shooting Thursday and released him by early Friday morning without any arrest or charges.
In the time since, Gasser's history of road-rage incidents has surfaced, including one incident in which he followed a former police officer to a gas station, where he allegedly punched him with a closed fist and spat on him. Ten years ago, Gasser also had another similar road-rage incident on the same New Orleans street that he shot and killed McKnight.
Now that Gasser has finally been booked, let's see what transpires from here.
