UPDATE: The Redskins have opted to keep RG III, the team revealed in its roster moves announcement Saturday. And Girffin has updated his Instagram account (after that intern fumble) with a few good words (see below).

The 2015 NFL season hasn't even kicked off, but the Washington Redskins reportedly want to move on from Robert Griffin III.

ESPN is reporting that the team's front office and coaches would like to part ways with the quarterback and have even discussed trading him with a handful of NFL teams—without garnering interest—but that they're meeting resistance from Redskins owner Daniel Snyder.

Heading into the Redskins' final preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on September 3 and first regular-season game against the Miami Dolphins on September 13, it appears as though Griffin has lost his starting quarterback job to backup Kirk Cousins. Although ESPN is reporting a groundswell of officials in the Redskins' organization wanting to move on from the RGIII era, it remains to be seen whether ownership will allow them to do so.

Interestingly enough, Cousins has fared worse as a Redskins' starter than Griffin with a 2-7 record to Griffin's 5-15, completing 58 percent of his passes to RGIII's 63 percent. Griffin is scheduled to make a guaranteed $16.1 million in 2016 for injury only after the Redskins picked up the fifth-year option in his contract this past April.

That could potentially scare off teams from pulling off a trade with the Redskins, being that RGIII has been injury prone, having just been concussed two weeks ago.
