NCAA Roundup: Louisville Overcomes Player's Gruesome Leg Injury
The Final Four has been set, but not without a dramatic finish at the Louisville and Duke game over the weekend.
At the Sunday night Elite Eight match-up, Kevin Ware, a guard for the top-seeded team, severely broke his right leg in two places as he fell near his team's bench. The gruesome injury left the bone in Ware's lower part of his leg dangling and some of his teammates cried as he laid there until he was taken off the court.
Ware told his teammates and coach that he was going to be fine and to go win, which they did. Louisville defeated Duke 85-63. The sophomore guard has reportedly undergone a successful surgery and is expected to have a lengthy recovery.
Michigan also secured their spot in the Final Four, beating Florida 79-59 and will play Syracuse next. The Orange walked over Marquette with a final score of 55-39. And in a close game Wichita State defeated Ohio State 70-66.
The Final Four will be held Saturday, April 6, and the championship game is on April 8.
