Allen West's Next Act: Internet TV
Allen West has joined the Fourth Estate. The former Florida congressman announced this week that he'll be hosting an Internet television program for the conservative website PJ Media. The new show, set to launch ion Feb. 4, will be called Next Generation Today. He also is director of Next Generation programming.
"We'll shine a spotlight on the challenges facing young Americans, whether it be out-of-control spending, crushing debt or unacceptable levels of unemployment. These issues threaten the opportunities of the next generation, and our nation's collective future," West says in a promotional video. "We don’t want the American Dream to fall by the wayside. We want to leave things better for those that come after us. That's why we’re standing up for the next generation."
His co-hosts are Los Angeles talk radio host John Phillips and former Daily Caller reporter Michelle Fields.
West, a tea party favorite who earned national fame for his fiery and sometimes incendiary remarks, served one term in Congress. He was defeated last November by Democrat Patrick Murphy, a loss he initially challenged.
The former lawmaker told The Palm Beach Post on Wednesday that he has no plans to run for office again.
"My sights and objectives, political and otherwise, are focused on something far greater," he said.
