Newspaper Apologizes for Slave Ship Cartoon - Lancaster New Era, a Pennsylvania newspaper, was in hot water for publishing an insensitive cartoon that compared traveling by air to the trans-Atlantic slave trade, commonly known as the Middle Passage. They have now deleted the cartoon from their site. “We are deeply sorry about printing this offensive cartoon. We cannot erase the error we made last week,” John A. The woman who took home the child said it had been months since she had last saw her own granddaughter so she did not realize the child was not related to her.
