Joy-Ann Reid Asks Joe Biden To Commit To Black Woman For VP
Joy-Ann Reid made history last night with the debut of The Reid Out. She is the first Black woman to have a prime time show on cable news and she started off strong.
Her first guests were presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
In Reid’s first interview with Biden since he became the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, she questioned him on his plans to possibly select a Black woman as running mate.
Reid said, "Black women, in particular, have been the heartbeat of the Democratic Party for a long time. Are you committed to naming a Black woman as your vice presidential running mate?”

Biden, 77, responded with, "I am not committed to naming any but the people I've named, but among them there are four Black women. So that decision is underway right now."
He also added, “And by the way, Black women have supported me my entire career. You all act like all of the sudden there was an epiphany in South Carolina.”
Barack Obama’s former VP claimed he has a “94 percent rating” with African-Americans in Delaware, which, according to Biden, has the eighth largest Black community in the country.
“I have been loyal and they have been loyal to me — and so it’s important that my administration, I promise you, will look like America.”
Reid followed up with, "Have you narrowed down your choices?"
Biden said, "We've gone through about four candidates so far and then when I get all the vetting done of all the candidates, then I'm going to narrow the list and then we'll see, and then I'm gonna have personal discussions with each of the candidates who are left and make a decision."
Biden is reportedly considering California Sen. Kamala Harris, Former United States Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice, U.S. Representative for Florida's 10th congressional district Val Demings and Georgia Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms.
