Trump Says He Never Called Meghan Markle 'Nasty' When There Is Clear Audio
Donald Trump just tried to pull a fast one on English royalty and the American press all at once.
Just ahead of his visit to the United Kingdom to meet the queen and members of the royal family, Trump referred to American-born Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle as “nasty.”
Trump was asked in an interview with British tabloid The Sun about Markle’s 2016 comments that she’d move to Canada if he was elected in November of that year.
“I didn’t know that,” Trump replied. “What can I say? I didn’t know that she was nasty.”
The comments made by Markle were well before she married Prince Harry and moved to the U.K. Trump is now denying he made such a comment, tweeting this morning (June 2), “I never called Meghan Markle ‘nasty.’ Made up by the Fake News Media, and they got caught cold! Will @CNN, @nytimes and others apologize? Doubt it!”
Audio from the interview was subsequently released and promoted, ironically from a Twitter account that supports the president. See below.
Here in the real world, however, it clearly and certainly relays the exact quote included in The Sun. Here is the comment at the 1:00 minute mark.
Twitter had a field day, demanding Trump apologize.

Once again, Donald Trump upends a civil joining of nations with comments before the meetings even take place. Trump is not scheduled to meet Meghan because she is on maternity leave, but Prince Harry is on his scheduled. We’ll see how that goes.
