Barack And Michelle Obama Will Be Producing Shows For Netflix And People Are Excited AF
Our royal couple has decided to step out of the world of politics and speech-giving to lend their brilliant minds to the entertainment industry.
Barack and Michelle Obama announced Monday (May 21) that they have entered a multi-year producing partnership with Netflix.
The former president and first lady are slated to help create a “diverse mix of content,” which could include both fictional and non-fictional content. Anything from scripted series to documentaries and features are reportedly on the table.
The content the Obama’s will be working on will also reportedly be available to all Netflix users in every country. Their new Higher Ground Productions company will be the imprint technically producing the Netflix content.
According to the New York Times, Barack Obama doesn’t plan to use the new platform to attack the current administration or Fox News (although we wish he would).
“One of the simple joys of our time in public service was getting to meet so many fascinating people from all walks of life, and to help them share their experiences with a wider audience,” he said in a statement. “That's why Michelle and I are so excited to partner with Netflix.”
Social media was lit with the news. See what they had to say below.
