In a tragic update, the body of 2-year-old Lane Graves, who was dragged away by an alligator at the Walt Disney World resort, has been found. The young boy was last seen by his family on Wednesday after he was snatched by the alligator into the man-made Seven Seas Lagoon.

"There's a sandy beach area and the family was out simply relaxing," Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demmings said. "They were wading at the water's edge when the alligator attacked the child." The family alerted a nearby lifeguard but there was nothing to be done.

The toddler's father struggled to save his son from the alligator's grasp "but was not successful," Demmings added.

The body was found at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday and was turned over to the medical examiner's office. The body was found intact, with Demmings saying, "There's no doubt in my mind the child was drowned by the alligator."

A fellow visitor captured an eerie contrast of events, as Disney's famous fireworks went off on Tuesday night and a helicopter hovering over the lagoon searched for the lost boy.

Nick Wiley, the executive director of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, said that five alligators have been captured and euthanized in an effort to find the guilty alligator. Wiley said that the animal responsible has likely already been captured, but they will continue to do forensics work and research to make sure that the gator is not longer present in the park.

Disney routinely removes the indigenous animal from its park. A representative said at a news conference that the resort "is devastated by this accident."
