Chicago Gun Violence: 5 Killed, 42 Injured This Past Weekend

Five people were killed and 42 were injured in gun violence this past weekend in Chicago.

Five people were killed and 42 were injured in gun violence this past weekend in Chicago, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The youngest of the those injured was a three-year-old boy, who was killed Sunday night after being shot in the head. 
Police are still investigating the incident. His father James Jenkins, 26, was charged since it was his gun that the boy or his sibling used in the incident. Jenkins is currently being held on $500,000 bond. The boy was taken to the hospital where he was listed in critical condition. 
Andre Byrd, 33, was shot early Sunday while he was attending a backyard party in the West Austin neighborhood. Byrd was pronounced dead at the scene. Quentin Graham, 40, walked up to a vehicle when someone in the car fired shots at him Sunday morning. He was pronounced dead an hour later. 
On Sunday afternoon, 14-year-old Marcus McCarty was approached by two males. One was armed and fired shots at him. He died after he was taken to a hospital. Victor Martinon, 16, was also killed after being struck in the twice in the chest, according to the Times.
There have been 226 homicides by gun violence in Chicago so far in 2014, according to Red Eye Chicago.
