Free Weezy Album Springs a Leak
If you're still swimming against the TIDAL wave (world stop), a life raft was thrown this weekend.
Lil Wayne's hotly-anticipated FWA, a.k.a the Free Weezy Album, a.k.a. his campaign for freedom from Cash Money, dropped exclusively on the music streaming service on the Fourth of July. But that's not all, the album is so free (how free is it?), before the end of this Independence Day celebration, it popped up elsewhere online.
We're not sure who meant to do that, but it was a good look. Fans were right to rally for the release of Wayne's new music. It's equal parts party and bulls**t ("holy s**t, I'm the s**t, I'm God's manure") and he-is-not-human intervention ("Rest in peace to the Cash Money, Weezy gone but not forgotten").
Cory Gunz, Jeezy, Wiz Khalifa, Junior Reid and Bibi Bourelly (who had her hands on Rihanna's "BBHMM"), are among the features. Behind the boards, Cool & Dre make an appearance.
Next week, according to his site, the merchandise (a t-shirt and hat) will be available. And yet, somehow, somewhere in America, Birdman's still not stressin'.
