Diddy Posts $50,000 Bail Following UCLA Arrest
After numerous reports that Sean “Diddy” Combs would be facing federal charges after an alleged incident at UCLA that involved his son Justin Combs and a football coach, he’s posted bail and was released from jail late Monday night.
The Associated Press gathered jail records that show Diddy’s bail was $160,000, but sheriff officials confirmed he posted $50,000. It’s unclear why the amount was reduced.
Diddy was arrested at UCLA’s Acosta Athletic Training Complex after word got out he allegedly assaulted a UCLA assistant football coach, Sal Alosi, with a kettebell during a dispute. Football fans may remember Alosi as the ex-New York Jets coach who was suspended for tripping a player during a 2010 game against the Miami Dolphins.
No one was seriously injured during the altercation which went down following a practice session. Once detained the hip hop star was hit with more charges, two more counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of making terrorist threats, and one count of battery.
UCLA head coach Jim Mora issued a statement through the school, saying, "This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time."
He is due in court on July 14.
