New Bob Marley Global Marijuana Brand Coming
Some 33 years after his death, Bob Marley's peaceful demand of "legalize it" is resonating worldwide, and the keepers of his estate are ready to launch a joint venture with a corporate dealer.
“My dad would be so happy to see people understanding the healing power of the herb,” Cedella Marley said via statement. “He viewed the herb as something spiritual that could awaken our well-being, deepen our reflection, connect us to nature and liberate our creativity.”
Marley Natural, available in 2015, will be distributed as a line of premium heirloom Jamaican cannabis, in strain form, as topical products (lotion), and via hemp-infused accessories. The company, backed by private equity firm Privateer Holdings, will also partake in philanthropic initiatives to help rebuild communities that have been harmed by the prohibition.
“We are joining with Privateer Holdings because they understand and respect our father’s legacy,” said Rohan Marley, Bob’s son. The company is the world's first to invest exclusively in the legal cannabis market, and is committed to offering only products that the reggae icon himself would have endorsed.
“My husband believed ‘the herb’ was a natural and positive part of life,” said Rita Marley, “and he felt it was important to the world. He looked forward to this day.”
