Game Talks 'Bigger Than Me,' Dissing XXL 's Freshman Class

Blood Money frontman checks into the Skee Lodge, opens up about being a free agent, G-Unit reunion and more.

Game isn't trying to stir up beef or cause any trouble with his "Bigger Than Me" record, although you wouldn't know that by the lyrics. He disses XXL's entire 2014 Freshman class and uses Frank Ocean's sexuality as a metaphorical weapon against rap's new generation, all within the first two minutes of the track.

The West Coast MC explained in an interview with DJ Skee's The SKEELodge that the track is just his way of venting. "Every now and then, man, I just gotta give my input on the state of hip hop," the self-proclaimed "Black Marshall Matthers" said. "I don't have no reservations about everybody doing they thing, it just gets a little soft at times … it kinda pissed me off."

There's no doubt that name-checking people in rhyme can be dangerous, but, as we all know, controversy has its rewards. The music video for "Bigger Than Me" has already racked up more than six million views in two days, which only adds more promo for his upcoming Blood Money compilation, Family Business. "If anybody studied my body of work from the beginning of my career to now, then they know what this project is gon' entail," he said of the compilation. "[A] lot of good music, 'lotta real music, hip hop … a lotta good lyricism, artists signed to my label and a few homies that [are] in hip hop."

Featured on the compilation will be Blood Money crew members King Marie and Scheme the Duke. The new project doesn't mean Game has locked down a label home just yet. "I'm not signed to s---," he proclaimed. "It's coming out through E1, we did a one album deal for the Blood Money project. My sixth album [The Documentary 2], I don't know where I'mma put that but it's gon' take a lot of money to have a conversation with me about it."

The father of three went on to speak about appearing in Nicki Minaj's "Pill N Potions" music video, and he admitted to dissing Lil Durk on "ChiRaq to LA" without knowing anything about him. "When I first got the call, I didn't even know who Lil Durk was," he said. "Tyga hit me, like, 'We're going in on Lil Durk.' I'm like, 'Aight,' you know? I'm riding with the lil homie … I went in without hearing any Durk records, I didn't even hear Tyga's point, I just did me."

As for that G-Unit reunion at Hot 97's Summer Jam earlier in the month, Game said that he "genuinely" enjoyed seeing his old clique back together. "Especially for [Young] Buck, who is a good friend of mine. I just think anything that keeps him going musically is dope," he said. "Yayo, 50 [Cent] and [Lloyd] Banks I haven't talked to in a long time, but just seeing them back together that was cool. I thought that was dope."
