Meek Mill Suing Philadelphia Police Over Drug Bust
Meek Mill claims his 2012 arrest in Philadelphia cost him more than lost time, and now he's suing the city for the rest. The rapper says the arrest, which came after cops claimed to smell marijuana in his vehicle but their search came up clean, cost him millions of dollars in lost income.
Among the lost revenue Meek Mill is hoping to reclaim from the city, according to TMZ, are $22,000 he lost for canceling a private jet flight and $39,000 for missing an appearance at an Atlanta party (both missed as a result of the arrest). He also says the fruitless search and false imprisonment cost him a $2 million endorsement deal with shoe brand Puma. After the negative publicity stemming from the arrest, Mill says he was forced to settle for less than half the contract amount.
The Philadelphia MC spent eight months incarcerated in 2008 on gun-related charges.
