Justin Bieber DUI Arraignment Set for Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day could end up being bittersweet for Justin Bieber.
The pop star's arraignment date for charges of DUI, resisting arrest and driving on a suspended license is scheduled for Feb. 14. However, he may not be required to attend the court date.
Bieber, 19, was arrested with friend and fellow 19-year-old recording artist Khalil Sharieff last week. Next month's court appearance will allow for prosecutors to officially file charges against the Canadian crooner. His lawyer, Roy Black, is expected to file a written response on Bieber's behalf.
Police accuse the teen heartthrob of driving intoxicated after leaving a Miami nightclub and later drag racing with Sharieff. They say he admitted to smoking weed, drinking and taking prescription meds.
A police report reveals that Bieber's intoxication level was well below the legal limit and Sharieff had no alcohol in his system.
They weren't drag racing either. Based on video surveillance from the night of the arrest both were going below the speed limit. Police reportedly subpoenaed TMZ video to try to prove the speeding story, but the 18-second recording only shows Bieber and a female passenger slowly driving down a Miami street.
