Joell Ortiz Accepts Kendrick Lamar’s Challenge

Brooklyn MC delivers an “Outta Control” response.

Joey Bada$ commended Kendrick Lamar's "King of New York" rhyme, but fellow New Yorker Joell Ortiz isn't as approving.

Amid Twitter reactions from rappers and rap fans alike, the Brooklyn MC traded social media conversations for studio time, premiering "Outta Control [Response to Kendrick Lamar]" earlier today.

Although Ortiz wasn't named on the "Control" verse, Lamar's proclamation still struck a chord. He opens with "Ya'll knew I wasn't gon' stay quiet," then proceeds to take the TDE star to task. "You the king of New York? Lil homie you ain't the king of New York, you're the next thing on my fork."

From there, Ortiz ponders how Slaughterhouse didn't cross the Compton native's line of fire, "Maybe I'm not on your radar. You feel you ain't gotta acknowledge my clique," and ends with a promise: "You set the bar high? I set the bar higher/You gon' learn, though, inferno'll scorch a bonfire."

Lamar also got a rise out of Joe Budden and Styles P. A Twitter battle ignited between the two after Styles gave New York rappers a noon deadline to respond to the "King of New York" jab, triggering a "u included" rebuttal from Budden.

Meanwhile, still no response from Lamar.
