Kanye West Joins Drake at OVO Fest
Drake delivered on his promised "special guests" at this year's OVO Fest. After cutting day one of the double-date event, the "No New Friends" rapper more than made up for the lost time Monday (Aug. 5), bringing out the likes of TLC, Diddy, Ma$e, Lil Wayne and the night's biggest surprise: Kanye West.
Any rumored beef between he and Yeezy was effectively squashed once they shared a stage. West even admitted to Drake being competition. "Me and Hov would've never made Watch the Throne if [Drake] wasn't putting pressure on us like that, so I just wanna pay my respects."
Although Drake has been touting an "All Me" disposition lately, bringing out West was career-changing. "That was probably the most important moment of my career to date," the Toronto native told MTV News. "I think me and Kanye have wanted to express our respect for each other for a long time and sometimes rap, the business, the competitiveness and just the heart behind it forces you to not talk to the people you quietly admire."
With the OVO Fest behind him, Drake is prepping the Sept. 17 release of Nothing Was the Same, and will head on his Would You Like a Tour? run starting Sept. 25 in Portland.
