Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded Debuts at No. 1
Nicki Minaj has another hit album on her hands. Last week, the Harajuku Barbie unleashed her sophomore album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded and, despite an early leak, the album debuted at No. 1 on the charts, selling 251,551 copies in its first week.
Minaj recently spoke with DJ Clue on his Power 105.1 radio show in New York about the myth of the "sophomore jinx."
"This album is gonna sell so much more than Pink Friday," Minaj said. "Ask me this question two years from today, Clue. With me, I’m never about first week and all that. I like to look at it for the long haul. I’ma travel, I’ma meet my beautiful babies, my Barbz everywhere, and this is my first time I’m gonna get to do a world tour, so the album is gonna do its thang.”
Her prediction was close. The album debuted at No. 1, according to Hits Daily Double, however it failed to reach the first week sales of its predecessor, Pink Friday, which registered at No. 2 on the Billboard Album charts, but sold 375,000 copies.
