Jay-Z and Kanye West at Odds Over Tour Cost?
Jay-Z and Kanye West have been attached at the hip ever since they started recording their collaboration album Watch the Throne, but rumor has it the project has recently put the two hip hop heavyweights at odds.
Hov and 'Ye ar planning an upcoming tour together sponsored by Live Nation, and at issue is just how massive the series of likely sell-out shows should get. Kanye, known for pushing the envelope at his own concerts, is reportedly fighting for the tour to be a blowout $400,000 per night production rivaling the grandest sets put on by rockstars, according to the New York Post. But Jay-Z, who received an advance from Live Nation years ago that he still needs to pay back, is said to want to minimize production costs in order to maximize tour revenue.
Anonymous sources say the two headliners are expected to finalize tour negotiations by next week. Presale tickets for the shows were supposed to be available last week, but Live Nation postponed the sale until Tuesday, August 2, due to "overwhelming demand" and the need to add more dates to the tour.
A new schedule is set to be announced today, and Jay-Z and Kanye are expected to appear together at a listening party tonight in New York's Central Park. Watch the Throne will be available for sale August 8 on iTunes and August 12 in stores.
