Zendaya Confirmed to Play Aaliyah
It's official — Zendaya will play Aaliyah in an upcoming biopic on the late singer for the Lifetime network. The 17-year-old actress and singer will stop by 106 & Park on Tuesday, June 17, to discuss the role.
The biopic, Aaliyah: Princess of R&B, is based on the best-selling book Aaliyah: More Than a Woman and will tell the story of the "One in a Million" singer's life and death, from her debut on Star Search to her rise to fame and, finally, her tragic passing at age 22. Dancing With the Stars alum Zendaya will also record four of Aaliyah's hit songs for the film. The film goes in front of cameras this summer, with a scheduled release in the fall.
Tune in to 106 & Park on Tuesday to get all the exclusive details on the project, straight from Zendaya herself!
