The biopic of Nelson Mandela based on his memoir Long Walk to Freedom has been gestating for years, with everyone from Morgan Freeman to Djimon Hounsou attached to play the iconic South African leader. The film is finally near completion with Idris Elba in the lead and Naomie Harris as Winnie Mandela.
Now, we have our first look at the sweeping biopic. Though the teaser, released this week just in time for Madiba's 95th birthday, is scarce on plot and we don't get a very good look at Elba as Mandela, it does feature a few powerful lines from the anti-apartheid leader's memoir, voiced by Elba in character, and an aerial shot of Madiba walking in a pasture.
