Jennifer Hudson Is More Proud of Her Weight Loss Than Oscar Win
In Jennifer Hudson’s world, the fact that she won an Academy Award for her first movie role wasn’t as major as her massive weight loss. The 2007 Oscar winner recently told Self magazine that her 80-pound-plus weight loss has been her biggest achievement.
"I'm prouder of my weight loss than my Oscar!" were her exact words.
Hudson revealed that she became aware of her weight after she appeared on American Idol in 2004.
"I didn't even know I was considered plus-sized until I came to Hollywood," she says in the interview. "I thought I was the perfect size!"
The Weight Watchers spokeswoman says it wasn’t until an interviewer asked her how it felt to be plus-sized in Hollywood that the light bulb went off.
“In the neighborhood I'm from in Chicago, a 16 is normal. But in Hollywood, everyone looks exactly the same, so I stood out.”
And after the birth of her now two-year-old son, Hudson was inspired to take control of her weight. She claims that it wasn’t for Hollywood, but for herself.
The View co-host Joy Behar said that on a recent shopping trip she ran in to Hudson and overheard the salesperson say the Dreamgirls star wore a size zero.
