The much-hyped indie feature Attack the Block is finally being released today. Winner of the audience award for best narrative at the 2011 Los Angeles Film Festival, Attack the Block is based on the story of a teen gang in South London that defends its block from an alien invasion. The film is a comedic spin on the science-fiction horror genre and is directed by Joe Cornish. It stars John Boyega, Jodie Whittaker, Nick Frost and Luke Treadaway.

While a group of teens investigate a fiery object that falls from the sky and lands on the roof of a car, the young Brits soon discover a creature from the meteor and proceed to kill it. Soon after, additional aliens crash-land into their area and the gang members must defend themselves from the invaders.
