The Duo to End All Duos - It’s been almost five years since The Throne — comprised of Jay Z and Kanye West — came to obliterate the game with their aptly titled collective project Watch The Throne. The pair was a wish come true for many that watched the two cultivate their friendship since the days of Jay’s The Blueprint. Plus, Kanye’s immortalization of their friendship on his own tracks “Last Call” and “Big Brother” left us with the hopes that one day they’d come together on the mic for real, for real, supergroup style. When they did, they did it properly and with a truly secret album – meaning, ahem, no leaks. Last week, we got a glimpse of the daring duo together again on Drake’s “Pop Style” single. Actually, we almost got a glimpse of these two together, because Jay Z got on the mic for all of two lines. They were arguably the best two lines though. There’s no better time to ...

We also need pictures of Bey and Kim together. - Even though Jay and Bey didn’t go to the wedding, we can dream, right? (Photo: Larry Busacca/Getty Images for NARAS)

They need to teach the youth how to keep their album under lock and key. - We fawned over how Beyoncé managed to keep her 2013 release under wraps the way she did, but the real surprise was how it didn’t leak. Watch The Throne, even with its high demand, didn’t leak prior to its release. This duo was one of the first to master the no leak in the digital age.(Photo: Larry Busacca/Getty Images For Roc Nation)

We need Jay back. - It’s been almost three years since Magna Carta...Holy Grail, and while there have been rumors of a joint album with Beyoncé, we wouldn’t mind getting Jay back with Yeezus in tow. (Photo: Theo Wargo/Getty Images for Live Nation)

Little brother needs to be reeled in. - Maybe if The Throne returns, Kanye will stop tweeting. Just saying. (Photo: Palace Lee, PacificCoastNews)

Because of moments like this. - Their performance at the 2011 VMAs was a great first glimpse into their Watch The Throne Tour later that year. Considering Beyoncé and her baby bump owned the night, this pair came out ready to tear it down with this unforgettable performance. (Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images)

...And moments like this. - The same night as their debut performance, when Bey revealed her baby bump to the world, this was Kanye and Jay in the audience. Is there a better picture out there of a friend being happy for a friend than this one? (Photo: MTV)

We need a newly minted batch of producer extraordinaires. - We can all attribute “N****s in Paris” to Hit-Boy and how that record changed the life of the producer, catapulting his career to the next stratosphere. Hip-hop will never tire of those tales and we need more of these producers. Who breaks producers better than Jay and Ye? (Photo: Imeh Akpanudosen/Getty Images for REVOLT)

They bring out the best in one another. - Maybe it was where the two emcees were at the time, but Watch The Throne holds the pair’s most reflective lyrics at the time of its release. Something about them together made them reflect heavily on family life and how they would keep their legacy going. For a game that’s all about the young folk, it was refreshing to hear two men reflecting about a later stage of life. (Photo: Michael Buckner/Getty Images For BET)

It’s always good to be reminded that a mentor/protégé relationship can work. - Hip-hop has had its fair share of mentor/protégé relationships that, when they work, deliver incredible material and career peaks that become legendary. When they go bust, material suffers and careers pivot in directions that are hard to come back from. These two give us hope that, even after all these years, they’ve still got it. (Photo: Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images for Roc Nation)
