BET Awards 2021: 10 Reasons Why The Universe Fell For Megan Thee Stallion

The 26-year old Houston hottie has left her mark on the world through her music, her boss moves, and her ability to shake that body, oddy, oddy.

Megan The Stallion burst onto the scene after years of hanging around in the studio with her mother, who was also a rapper. The 26-year-old Houston rapper was writing rhymes while most of us were still drinking warm milk. This ultimately culminated into her 2019 mixtape, “Fever,” which won the BET Hip Hop Award for Best Mixtape of the Year and was nominated last year for a BET Award for Album of the Year. After winning a third BET Award for Viewer’s Choice and Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Megan has sealed the deal as one of the most inspirational women in music today.

Here’s 10 reasons why you can’t help but respect this lady’s boss game.

  1. She supports HBCUs

Megan  attended Prairie View A&M before she doubled down on her rap career. However, she returned to school at Texas Southern University and recently announced that she will be graduating in the Fall of 2021.

  2. Like Mother Like Daughter

Megan’s mother, Holly Thomas, was a rapper who went by the name Holly-Wood. Holly used to take young Megan to the studio with her and that is where she gained her love for the music and taught herself how to rap. Unfortunately, Holly passed away in 2019, but her legacy lives on in Megan.

  3. Reppin H-Town

Megan follows a long line of Houston artists that have made their mark on the world stage including Scarface, Mike Jones, Chamillionaire, Travis Scott, Lizzo, and many others.

  5. The Perfect Stage Name

Because of her strong 5’10” frame, Megan (born Megan Jovon Ruth Pete on February 15, 1995) is now known professionally as Megan Thee Stallion.

  6. Pop Culture Appeal

With a breakout turn on NBC’s hit comedy-drama series “Good Girls,” Megan’s 360 talents have yet to be fully discovered. She has a way of keeping us guessing.

  7. She’s Giving Out Scholarships to Women of Color

In partnership with Rap Rotation, Amazon Music’s global hip hop brand that shines a light on the best of the genre, Megan is giving away two 10K scholarships to  “college hotties” of color.

  9. She Made Summer a Year-Round Thing

An entire social media campaign was created around this one line in one of her songs, but Hot Girl Summer has taken on a meaning devoid of seasons. According to Megan, Hot Girl Summer is about you being your best self, having a good time, and standing by your crew.

  10. She Keeps is Tight and Right

While we don’t think anyone would call her a gym rat, Wiz Khalifa did post a video on Twitter of the two of them working out in the gym. In fact, Megan is way into fitness and works out religiously to keep fit. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself pinning her pic on your fridge door sometime soon.

  11. She’s an Animal Lover

Megan has four dogs, a Frenchie ( who once had a very popular Instagram page), a Cane Corso, a French Bulldog and, of course, a Pitbull. And her love for animals doesn't stop there. You can find her next hosting new pet series called “Off Thee Leash” for Snapchat.

  13. She has a (not so) secret love of anime

Surely you’ve seen Megan rocking colorful wigs to look like her favorite anime characters, but it doesn’t stop there. Megan, who has been watching anime since she was a little kid, has even had her nails done with anime inspired designs. Next we’ll see it make its way into her music and stage show.
