Lil Yachty’s “Saved By The Bell” Theme Is Out Now
Peacock’s Saved By The Bell returns on Nov 25 and ahead of its release, the streaming service has shared its official remix of the original theme song performed by Lil Yachty.
The uptempo and jubilant rendition matches the excitement of the original, performed by Michael Damian, and even ups the energy as the rapper performs the melodic lyrics.
In a statement obtained by Uproxx, the show’s executive producer Tracey Wigfield praised Yachty for his work on the song. “We were so excited to have Lil Yachty update the original Saved By The Bell theme song,” she said.
“Besides being cool and catchy, his music has a great sense of humor, which I really appreciate,” she continued. “I was less excited when he said he wanted to do it because his mom was a big fan of the show because that made me feel 100 years old.”
According to Deadline, the Saved by the Bell reboot is set to follow California Governor Zack Morris, with Mark-Paul Gosselaar reprising the role, who “gets into trouble for the state's many underfunded highschools and propose they send affected students to California's highest performing schools.”
Due to this, students from underfunded schools will be transferred to Bayside High. “The influx of new students gives the overprivileged Bayside kids a much-needed dose of reality,” Deadline says.
Also reprising their roles are Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley who will play Albert "A.C." Clifford Slater and Jessica Myrtle Spano.
The original Saved by the Bell ran from 1989 to 1993.
