Lizzo Claps Back After Owner Kicked Her Out Of Her Rental And Threatened To Call Police

“You can’t stop this Black girls’ shine.”

Lizzo hit back at a Los Angeles property owner that she had a surprising encounter with this past weekend.

  • Taking to Instagram on Sunday (July 5), the 32-year-old Grammy-winning songstress revealed that she and her friends were forced to find a new rental on short notice after the homeowner cut their seven-day stay short by three days and kicked them out of his property.

While it’s not clear what went down between Lizzo’s crew and the owner of the property to prompt such a response, the “Truth Hurts” singer implied in the post’s caption that it was racially motivated. She alleged that the man went so far as to ‘threaten to call the police’ on them.

  • “This is for mocking the way that I dance and for using Instagram footage of me and my 6 black homegirls to say that we could ‘hurt him’ and threatened to call the police,” Lizzo wrote  a video of herself dancing on an outdoor patio with a sweeping scenic view at her new place.

“I know you’re watching my page so I just want you to know you can’t stop this Black girls’ shine. Thanks for kicking us out cus this house is better anyways. Xoxo.”

  • Lizzo has been mostly keeping to herself and chilling with her friends in quarantine. Earlier this week, she addressed concerns over why she was hanging out with her friends in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Just a group of melanated girls soaking up the sun. No rhyme or reason. We all took the responsibility to get covid tests and luckily we’re all negative,” she captioned a photo of them all posing together along with a link to where people can find a COVD-19 testing location near them. “Please be safe and wear your masks.”
